Cross Lions Gate Bridge and into the pristine North Shore Mountains. Your first stop is Vancouver’s first tourist attraction – The Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park. Here you can cross the one of the world´s longest suspension footbridge, which hangs 70 metres above a spectacular river canyon, among the tops of the lofty Douglas firs. Guaranteed to get your heart racing, this exhilarating experience has been drawing brave visitors to the park since 1889.

There’s more to explore in the park. The Treetop Adventure is a series of smaller suspension bridges, giving you an opportunity to experience life in the canopy from a woodpecker or chipmunk’s perspective. And for the ultimate perspective, the new cliffwalk attraction lets you ‘hang out’ over the Capilano Canyon itself. This incredible walkway hugs the cliff face and offers 360° views of the gorge below.

Then, push deeper into the rainforest to the Capilano Salmon Hatchery. Learn all about one of British Columbia’s largest industries and the lifecycle of the West Coast salmon. In season you can even see them battling upstream to spawn. Your final destination is the Peak of Vancouver, Grouse Mountain. Take the Skyride up above the clouds to the top of the mountain, 3800 feet above the city of Vancouver. There’s time to wander the trails, drink up the view and see the traditional chainsaw carvings. If you’re lucky you might catch one of the seasonal events, such as lumberjack shows, sleigh rides or ice-skating. Your head will still be in the clouds long after you return to downtown Vancouver.

Vancouver

Vancouver is a thriving metropolis surrounded by natural beauty. With parks, beaches, gardens, museums, art galleries and the second-largest Chinatown in North America, Vancouver lives up to its promise of offering something for everyone. With modern buildings set against green, rolling hillsides, this city is breathtaking; no location offers a more spectacular view than Stanley Park - with a zoo, aquarium, totem poles and honking geese. A short walk from the park leads to Robson Street, which offers the town's best window-shopping. Stores with European flavor share the avenue with delicatessens and tea rooms ready to serve. As architectural heart of the city, Robson Square features a central plaza with a food fair and an old provincial courthouse, which now houses Vancouver Art Gallery. Be sure to stop at 8 Pender St. - "the narrowest building in the world." Other points of interest include the Museum of Anthropology; Japanese-style Nitobe Memorial Garden; and VanDusen Botanical Garden. Capilano Canyon is site of the world's longest and highest suspension footbridge.
